Sport Development International multilateral training philosophy encompasses the latest sport science development, a rigorous analysis of individual physiological background and moreover, sound periodized training plans customized to the individual developmental needs. Training better general athletes and persons before they specialize in any sport is our credo. To develop a strong all round multilateral base in athletic motor skills and neuro-muscular abilities is of paramount importance to enjoy life-long safe sport activities and potentially target high performance development in a specific sport. Sport Development International poses itself as one of the bridges between sport science and the athletes of all ages, coaches and/or parents for we understand the difficulty sometimes to keep up to date with the latest information available during our busy daily lives. We believe at Sport Development International that no matter what the personal goals are in performing sport activities, only programs enhancing the coordination, balance and general motor skills will allow young athletes from the youngest age to thrive towards personal achievements both as human beings, amateur healthy athletes and high performance athletes. During the course of a thoroughly developed program spanning through the biological and chronological periods of growth and maturation, the young athletes will acquire the necessary general motor abilities to perform well in following a systematic developmental approach, leading him/her towards the high performance level in a chosen sport. We believe there is no other way for sport success than a patiently built up multilateral approach adapted to the children progressive functionality. Children are not "little adults". They have their own physiological and psychological development shaped progressively through the stages of their growth and maturation. Young athletes therefore can not be trained as "young adults". Fair and simple. We, at Sport Development International, also agree with current studies that the vast majority of young athletes are usually specializing too early in a sport to be totally efficient, and we agree that most young athletes are lacking the fundamental motor skills and biomotor abilities necessary to perform well in any sport. Therefore, we are offering our athletes the best recipes for a drug and mostly injury free sporting career. We are designing customized programs to prepare young athletes (from 6 years of age and up) to reach high performance level through a systematic periodized physical development. For those mature athletes who earlier missed some vital training steps, we offer solutions to get back in track with personalized counseling and training. Finally we offer specific periodized programs in numerous sports for prospective High Performance athletes / players. We will not ask parents or coaches to sit hours in front of a DVD player for an all DIY program. We shall instead build the programs to meet the needs of the young athletes, allowing to discuss and assess all results during the developmental process. The interaction with a Sport Development International coach will be regular to optimize the program's application process. Sport Development International training system has been mostly influenced by the life long research and achievements of Professor Tudor Bompa, Ph.D, widely considered as the "father of modern sport training periodization" and with who we developed a special relation based upon respect and friendship. Professor Bompa is one of the most eminent figure of sport development worldwide since the 1960's and his lifelong work at the service of better athletes' training will never be enough commanded and recognized. Frederick Claro, founder and director of Sport Development International is a student and co-wrote a book with Dr. Bompa: Periodization in Rugby with Meyer & Meyer Publisher, October 2008. As a Periodization-Planning Specialist and Junior Athlete training Specialist of the Tudor Bompa Institute, Frederick has been a corner stone in SDI programs' development.
